Picnic On A Rock

Before Lincoln Gap road closes for the season grab a sandwich and a friend and head south on the long trail. The view from Sunset Rock overlooking the Champlain Valley is quietly suffused in a whisper of silver and gray, a lovely spot to share a little solace.

Dress warm, chances are Jack Frost will be nipping at your nose.

Give A Girl An Ax

One early Sunday morning this fall, my nine year old granddaughter called to invite us over for lunch.  When asked what we could bring, she replied.
"Some wood... and Popi, will you help me build a campfire?"

And when the fire got all smoky, her mama knew just what to do.

So just look at them and sigh and know they love you                                                        ~from Teach Your Children Well by Graham Nash

The Water Is Wide

When we are wakened by the river's song it is unsettling.

Mint restaurant shared photos of the river's rise last night on their facebook page. They must of had a fitful sleep.

Come morning, the sun is a welcomed sight.

And the beavers... well, they have great expectations.

The water is wide, I can't cross over
and neither have I wings to fly
build me a boat that can carry two
and both shall row - my love and I

It Has Happened Again

I've fallen head over heels in love with my home.

Thanks to my best friend for loaning me this sweet photograph he captured from Rolston Road this morning while pedaling over hill and dale.

Fair warning... even us seasoned residents are finding ourselves driving like leaf peepers erratically to gawk at the show momma nature has gifted us.
